What's In Your Deck #10
Your Top 5 Music Picks
1. Busta Rhymes–"I'll Hurt You"
It's official!! Busta comes correct on his first installment under the Aftermath imprint. Dre is sick with the beat and Busta rides it to the end. It's official!!
2. Kanye West–"Diamonds"
Same ole Kayne rap, but the beat is especially nice. I will be the first to admit I thought Kanye's 15 minutes were up, but I found myself eating my words when I heard this track.
3. Fantasia–"Free Yourself"
I felt her on this "…If you're not happy then you're free to go on, 'Cause I don't want you stayin' around, If I make you so miserable… If you don't want me then don't talk to me, Go ahead and free yourself." I'm sure everyone can identify with this. This is one American Idol that has the talent to stick around for a minute.
4. Dwight Trible and the Life Force Trio (produced and featuring Sa-Ra Creative Partners)–"Equipoise"
It's been a while since I've called any new song funky. But this song is just that… Funky!!! Reminiscent of some old 80's funk and soul. This is what they got when they mixed a Jazz vocalist w/ progressive Hip Hop. The song was produced by Sa-Ra Creative Partners and as my grandma would say… they put they foot in it! If you get to the middle of this song and you haven't moved, something is wrong with you. (Go here to hear a sample)
5. Raheem DeVaughn–"Guess Who Loves You More"
I woke up to this song one morning and I swear I sang it all day! It's contagious… "Guess who loves you more, guess who loves you moooore!" His album sampler has been moving around for a minute and I'm glad Jive finally decided to do something with him. I think Earth, Wind and Fire would be proud to hear what he did with the sample of their classic song "Can't Hide Love."
Bonus: Sly Boogie–"It's Nuthin'"
Just another dope emcee out of the West rippin' mics over a hot track. Now all we need is for somebody to put out Crooked I, and let the resurrection begin!
