Staple Crops #1
The Bleeding Edge™
The Bleeding Edge™ is the position that precedes The Cutting Edge. The innovators that hold this position come in all professions. As most purists do, when they have exhausted the usefulness of an area of their lifestyle they quickly move on to produce another innovation, series of work, customization, musical genre, culture, etc. The problem arises if they dispose of it before receiving the benefits for what they create.
The Cutting Edge holds onto ideas after they are no longer considered hip by the bleeding edge innovators. What they understand is that these ideas are still new to the general public.
My suggestion: Continue to innovate, but don’t discard what you have created. Just because you are tired of it doesn’t mean its usefulness has been exhausted.
With this column I will sift and filter through data collected from my personal travels as an artist in the NYC art community. Presenting work from innovative emerging and mid career contemporary artists, this column will give exposure to a resource of work being created internationally. Hopefully the work you see in this column will give more options to draw from as you build your own collection--actual or virtual.

peeped that Basquiat show at BK museum. I've had the opportunity to have seen his work before. I took my 11 year old nephew to check out the show and I was more intrigued by his response to the show because he doesn't get out much to events such as this one. He seemed amazed that something that looks like his little sister did it made him feel more comfortable. I have taken him to other exhibits and this one was the first one that sparked his interest.
