Oh what a night! Cain had me going crazy. I mean, these kind of gigs, you see, they really try you as a deejay. These hot new champagne lounges, with their a-list crowds, lots of nouveau riche talking about bottles and models, these spots turn deejays into jukeboxes. You've managed to get everybody's groove on, you got a makeshift dance floor packed, you got people singing the songs, and then some guy runs up and says "I'm so and so and my table over there wants you to play 'Euro'." Euro??? What the fu*k is Euro? Are you kidding? No, I won't. I'm not doing that. AND THEN one of the "percussionists" comes over--and brings the f-ing manager!!!--and says "play house or people will leave." He wasn't even playing the drums. He was banging a tambourine against his hip. Holy sh*t! And then I'm still playing at 4:30 in the AM and have guys coming taking pictures of me, and this one guy had a red cowboy hat with one of those electronic signs on it and it was just crazy ...

So did I rock it, or not? Should I have played the bottle buyers instead of the dancing mass? Do I still have a job?

Today I got a message from one of the people at the party last night who asked for my card. They were in their car, and they heard one of the songs I played, and it motivated them to call me and thank me for being "awesome" and for giving them a reason to go out again. (No lie.)

Freedom was crazy. And now, because of that craziness, the continuous craziness that has been Freedom every week, we're moving on up. Starting January 14th, Freedom will have a new home: Discotheque. Discotheque is a small, intimate club space on 19th between 5th and 6th avenues. There's a good sized dance floor in the front half, with a VIP section for those wishing to be fly, not-to-mention one of NYC's illest sound systems. In the back, there's a sexy lounge space for our drinkers and conversationalists. Most importantly, it's bigger. Not much bigger, but bigger and better equipped for your dancing pleasure. DON'T WORRY: Freedom will still be Freedom. Cheap door entry, no dress code (except for dudes who still haven't outgrown ankle-length t-shirts), no attitude, no drama, no worries. You don't NEED anything to party at Freedom. Just yourself. That's it.

You'll hear a lot more about it in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, we're still at Starfoods (last Friday is January 7th), and New Year's Eve is still on sale, though tickets are flying through the roof. It's gonna be crazy--you gotta get your Starfoods on before the switch!

Big shout out to Karibi (my new manager, heheh) for the Caroline's Comedy Club holiday party gig. You saved the day by hauling a** over to a neighbor club to get a working turntable, then hauling a** back to that club to get an adaptor for the "Euro" plug it came with. Big shout out to Gilbert Godfried, Barry Z and Dave Attelle from that late-night funny show. Too bad he's a prick and thought I should have been on his dilznick or something. The ride home to the crib was fun, too. Took me back to Jersey. Karibi was dying to hear that Mario song (it is, after all, ridiculously good), and had his IPod, so he hooked it up to the radio, but the batteries had died or something, so he looked for it on the radio, but no luck, so dude pulled over in Times Square, got out the car, went to the trunk, got out his laptop, hooked his laptop up to his IPod which was still hooked to the radio, downloaded it, and played it three times in a row.

That's dedication. That's music. I'd smile about it, but my lips are so freaking chapped, I'm afraid I'll split my chin open.

Y'all bang on your desks and I'll sing it. Go like this: boom ... slap, boom ...slap:
