Sugatreats is pretty dope. It airs in NYC on 90.3 FM WHCR, every Monday from 8PM - 12 Midnight in NYC. The show also broadcasts worldwide at www.whcr.org
You wont find the same 10 songs in rotation either. New artists, and new sounds every week from genuine singers, musicians and mc's who set trends, as opposed to following the crowd and a short buck.
Yea..shameles plug, but f'real - if I dont plug my sh*t - who else will?
:)
If you litsen to 1Xtra, you should check out Radio 1. Gilles Peterson, Trevor Nelson and the One World radio show play some great artists that barely register in the states.
Also check out Choclate City w/ Garth Trinidad on KCRW.
Posted by big family at May 6, 2004 03:59 PMOh hell yes Big fam I love Radio 1, I listen to John peel a lot actually. And all the shows you mentioned are greatly superior to anything we have over here. I listened to KCRW a lot =in Los Angeles this past weekend. They knowhow to do raido, I tell you whut. Posted by MattSonzala at May 6, 2004 04:02 PMOkay for me it's
Dirtysouthradio.com - I listen to this about all day cause I live up north and dont get as much as a chance to check out whats hot and going down in the south, and I allways hear new songs that I never heard and it's a unique listen everytime.
RinseFM.com - This is the best underground UK station in london with award winning DJ's and MC's, If you like 1xtra, you would want to hear this as it's the raw side of the UK. This used to be home to Rolldeepcrews Dizzy Rascal and Wiley until they got big, but dizzy checks in once and a while for a live show!
Secrect Sound Service s-s-s-.ch - If you need to relax and just want to hear chill vibes and not some crazy everyday music I go here, to zone out instantly playing acid jazz to down tempo drum and bass and every thing to get your mind right, this ones a must check out
and for everything else I just check out randomstations at winamp.com
peace.

Gasping for Air America? Two more top dogs at the liberal talk network
Air America Radio -- co-founder and chairman Evan Cohen and vice
chairman and investor Rex Sorensen -- resigned Thursday. Their departure
came one day after the fledgling company failed to pay its 100 writers
and producers on Wednesday. Last week, its checks to on-air talent
including Al Franken, Janeane Garofalo and Randi Rhodes reportedly
bounced. John Sinton, the network's president, said the company is "on a
wild ride" but intends to stick around. Asked whether replacements for
Cohen and former chief executive Mark Walsh, who resigned last week,
would soon be announced, Sinton replied, "I wouldn't hold my breath."

SO IS PEACE AND EQUALITY WRONG OR WHAT? DOES AMERICA NOT WANT PEACE AND EQUALITY? ARE WE ALL RICH REPUBLICANS OR DO WE JUST NOT CARE????

Posted by MannyNote at May 9, 2004 02:34 AMI'm not too much into radio anymore, unless its some sports talk in the ride to and from work. Its pretty scary that I don't check for radio much anymore (commercial or otherwise), seeing as how radio used to damn near rule my existence. Commercial radio doesn't move me much, although I'm not mad at what they do and I find that working a 9-5 has really made it more difficult for me to stay up to listen to community hip-hop radio, which tends to air late on weeknights in my market. I need to check Air America out, sounds interesting.
