why can they just scan for new music everytime you open up the app (or manually request it)? this shit sucks and if it weren't for the fact that I have an iPod Nano, I would be fucking with Winamp again.

Hey SeeLah - I want to revive this thread-
You have aroused my interest on this Itunes thing....I have the Motorola Rocker instead of an Ipod (but capatible). For the first time I went thru the ordeal (downloading program, bought 25 songs and put them on my phone) just this weekend. A girl in Bestbuy had mentioned to me about setting it to manual to add songs to my phone but she didn't really elaborate, so I'm tying in your comment with hers and wondering if I should be aware of something.
Here's my concern.
I bought a 256mb chip (phone came with 512 but my honey has that one) which holds about 60 songs but I only put 25 on my phone. So when I go on and buy 35 more, will all the songs in my library attemp to load instead of the new 35?
