INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

at the Funding Exchange National Office
The Funding Exchange (FEX) is a national grant-making entity that supports progressive grassroots social change work.

FEX seeks an intern for 14-35 hours per week, effective February 2006, in the Grants Department of our national office in Manhattan, New York.

This opportunity provides hands-on administrative and programmatic experience in our day-to-day grant-making activities, and a national overview of grassroots work on local, regional and national organizing efforts in LGBTIQ, low-income and people of color communities; independent media; and work for peace and racial justice.

The Funding Exchange also supports international projects with direct implications for progressive movements, policies and projects in the United States.

Potential projects include: opportunities to participate in a full range of grants department activities from nuts-and-bolts administrative to programmatic work; research and presentation to grants staff; meeting planning; meeting with grantees and potential grantees.

This internship is unpaid. We provide a monthly transit check and college credit where applicable.

The ideal candidate will:

*Have experience and interest in non-profit organizations, philanthropy and/or with grassroots organizing
*Be proficient in current versions of MS Word and Excel software
*Have some experience or desire to work with Microedge Gifts for Windows or other data base applications
*Be interested in working with and further developing good writing, editing and communication skills
*Work well as a part of a fast-moving, multi-tasking team
