I have already shedded my tears as I read these posts (and put up my own)...but my tears are no longer for sadness...they are of joy. Joy knowing that each of us has found redemption - in ourselves by talking about it and knowing that there is hope that we all can overcome these obstacles the only way we can - day by day.
I haven't even scratched the surface on what I went through as a child but I don't need to anymore. Neither do any of you because today needs to be the day that we, as strong beautiful black women, make it known to our souls that we are survivors in the truest sense of the word.
mccallsgirl...as far as my teacher goes, you don't know the half. I want to write a book about it, it's so crazy. 2 books I need to write are to exorcise my demons. Find a healthy way to exorcise your demons and liberate yourself from all that was and become all that you need to be. It's easy to say but so hard to do...I know, I've been there. Be secure in the Most High that lives within you (your soul) and your mind and body will follow. This is what faith is. It took me a long time to realize it but it is what it is.
quel...when I practiced Islam, I found solace in the story of the Hadrat Fatimah. Read the Koran and then read the Bible...your strength is immense and regardless of what people say or do to you, take it as a blessing. No one should be able to touch you when Allah is on your side.
I have read that the more melanin you have, the more you hold things in. It's true on the surface but going inside to face these demons will definitely help. therapy never worked for me either...I was able to fool those damn doctors/therapists at 12 years old when I had to spend a summer in the J building (true BK heads know what/where this is). True therapy comes from inside...the Most High will help you if you let him in.
Chi QT...thank you so much for that prayer. It only reaffirms my faith in the Lord, my faith in myself, and my faith in Black People and the spiritual bond that we inherently have been given. Blessed Love.
To all the men that have responded to our plight, I thank you. I was wondering what the men were thinking as we posted (if we were crazy or if that explained our "strange" behaviours). I won't judge and try to figure out if you're sincere or not, the Most High works through you in your great responses.
