Soooooooooooooo I make it to the second round of interview's for the Hedge fund company I told you guys about, I went thru 4hrs and 27 minutes of interviewing, back to back to back. Initially the head of HR said that I will meet with several Partners and PM's and if the like me I would meet with the SVP (the person I would be the EA to). Sooooooooooo I make it thru 6 of them then (drum roll) I make it to see the 'OZ' (SVP) @ this point Im thinking "I GOT IT IN THE BAG"!!!! So the OZ comes in and the first question he asks (mind you Im going on my 5th hour with nothing but a bottled water)....

If there is a pond with a one lilly pad in the middle of the pond thats doubling in size every second and it takes 60 seconds to completely cover the pond, How long does it take to cover half of the pond?

****I'll tell you the second question he asked when I cool off, Im still Soooooooooooo pissed off.

are you for fucking serious? how did you respond? instead of a numerical answer, he may have just been trying to see how you would repsond to such an out the ass question. that's clearly a mind fuck. he was probably testing your logic. or your cool.

now you got me shook about my second interview.

Well the question was followed by the Pre-question which Was how good are you in math soooooooooooo my brain went into mathamatical mode rather than logical.

He told me to think about it while he asks me a second question....

2. If I have a 2 meetings in Thailand on Monday 2 on Tuesday 1 on Wed. evening All are equally important But I have one in NY mon. morning that is the Most important out of All the meetings BUT only has a 30% chance of actually taking place, when will you schedule me to come back to NY???

Can I single handedly bring down the corporation known as T-MOBILE?
Could I make my vindictive motives profitable?
IHateTMobile.com is currently already taken.  I am looking for alternatives.  ph34r.gif

Would it be illegal to seek sponsorship from competitive phone services?

Try...

You can seek sponsorship from a competitor...but the majors won't touch it.

I say go for it....after you bring them down let's work on Sprint!!!!

laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Just don't go after Cingular. Haven't had any major problems with my service or their customer service. Actually, I've only ever had one problem with them since I've been with them. And I've been with them since they were Bellsouth Mobility. Called them up with the issue and they handled it with the quickness.

And as someone else mentioned, when Katrina hit, although they did experience an outage for a while, within a couple of days after I could only reach my people who had service with Cingular. My sister has Sprint, and her service (coverage areas) still isn't back to normal.

Quel did you panic? Because the first question was hella easy. I bet if you would have taken a breath you would have seen just how simple it was...and I bet that was what he really wanted to see. Not speed, but cool.

(Its doubling every second which means it was half the size of the full pond 1 second before it was the full size of the pond. So it took 59 seconds for it to reach half the size of the pond.)

The second question blink.gif warranted a REAL SMART ASS ANSWER though!!! rolleyes.gif

Quel did you panic? Because the first question was hella easy. I bet if you would have taken a breath you would have seen just how simple it was...and I bet that was what he really wanted to see. Not speed, but cool.

(Its doubling every second which means it was half the size of the full pond 1 second before it was the full size of the pond. So it took 59 seconds for it to reach half the size of the pond.)

The second question blink.gif warranted a REAL SMART ASS ANSWER though!!! rolleyes.gif

Did I ever tell you I dont like you???? dry.gif

Nah seriously I got the answer an hour after being on the train. mad.gif I sure did panic!!! I mean I straight up blew the whole fucking interview.

I wont even tell you what my answer was laugh.gif laugh.gif
Wait dont make me laugh I might spill this nitrous oxide (sp?) Im whipping up to send him on his Thank you note ph34r.gif

Word!!! I have witnessed long interview processes at my previous job when they would hire new VP's or Managing Directors and sometimes analysts. But that is absolutely absurd to have someone at an executive assistant level interview with all those people especially if you are only going to report to one person on a day to day. blink.gif But hedge funds may operate differently since they are usually much smaller firms, they probably wanted to make sure you gel with the entire staff. I work for the president and I only had to interview with HR and then came back to meet w/ the President directly. Both interviews together lasted about an hour and 30 minutes TOPS!

Just take a deep breath Quel and if its meant to be, it shall be...was this thru Glocap?

if i could be so lucky. last friday i interviewed with the HR, the Exec. Editor from another division. all this is happening in less than a week.

that's HR's favorite question to references. last round, i had everyone say a variation of "i don't know. she's pretty good at everything once you tell her what you're looking for." what is a better answer to that? I may need to re-prep my folks.

BK, the way that it works in my office (I'm considered to be senior) is that the senior people meet with every candidate that is selected for an interview and we make the decision about who should move on to second-rounds. At that point, we've pretty much already made up our minds about who should get the position, but they are then interviewed a second time by people who are more "peers" than management. We then take the "peer" interviews into consideration when making final decisions, but their input is not a deciding factor (though, I suppose if they were dead-set against our choice, we would have to give that significant weight). Maybe your interview process is loosely based on this method?

Yeah, basically. During this second round, I would suggest that you really let your personality shine through. What they are now looking to see is whether you'd be a "good fit" for the office. Do you play well with others? Are you the type of person that they would want to see everyday? Of course, they will ask you substantive questions, but they already know that you're capable of doing the job... otherwise, they wouldn't have brought you in for the second-round. Now, it becomes more of a popularity contest... I know it sucks, but that's real.

I completely disagree with you. Obviously you didn't watch the whole funeral. You are seizing on the comments of one person

No I don't consider it disrespectful to bring forth the politics of a woman who was at the center of a very political movement, one that didn't stop in the 60's or 70's.

Keep in mind Coretta Scott King was subjected to federal wiretaps the same way that other American citizens are today under the current Bush gov't.

NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. Maybe you missed the reaction of those in attendance of her funeral but my local news channel actually commented that the audience was so receptive to those comments that they felt there should have been more.

Sorry, No way jose. As a native of Birmingham, AL I would say his comments were right in line and right on time. wink.gif
